After a two-week stay at the hospital, Marcus is finally back at Almost Home Kids! We definitely didn’t expect him to be there that long, but we’re so thankful for the care he got—and especially grateful they found and removed that piece of plastic in his esophagus that none of us even knew was there.

He now has a new technology goal: practicing with a button! The plan is to have him try pressing it up to five times a day, in little 5–15 minute sessions. Right now, we’re not sure if his movements are voluntary or involuntary, but the idea is to teach him that pressing the button makes something happen. For example, if we say, “Marcus, press the button if you want to watch TV,” and he moves his head even slightly, we’ll turn the TV on and count that as a success. The goal is to help him start connecting actions to outcomes, whether intentional or not.

On the home side, we’re getting things ready for Marcus too. His hospital bed, Hoyer lift, and Quadriciser are all set up in the apartment. There’s still some rearranging to do, but it’s exciting to see everything coming together. We’re inching closer to the day when Marcus can finally move in full-time.

Thanks again for all the love, prayers, and support—every message, visit, and encouraging word has meant so much to us. We’re hopeful and excited for what’s ahead.

Team Marcus
