Marcus was recently readmitted to the hospital due to persistently high calcium levels. His medical team is closely monitoring the situation and running several tests. Despite this setback, Marcus continues to show resilience and overall stability.

To help manage muscle tightness, Marcus has been receiving massages a couple of times a week. Muscle tone remains a significant challenge, particularly with the reduction in weekly therapy sessions, making it harder to keep his muscles loose. Therapists and physicians have also observed a slight curvature in his spine. To address this, Marcus has been fitted for a Thoracic Lumbar Sacral Orthosis (TLSO) vest, which will help prevent further curvature and support spinal alignment.

In response to the limited therapy availability, Team Marcus has explored alternative options for maintaining his movement. After some research, we discovered and ordered a Quadriciser—a motorized therapy device that provides natural, repetitive motion to all four limbs. It’s designed to promote improved health and mobility for individuals with physical limitations, while also enhancing the effectiveness of other therapies. We put it together early last week and so far Marcus has responded well the few times he’s used it so far.

On another note, Almost Home Kids has confirmed that Marcus is medically cleared to transition to a home setting. While we don’t yet have an official discharge date, we were advised to accelerate the process of securing in-home nursing care.

The State of Illinois has approved 56 hours of nursing care per week, which we can allocate in one of two ways:

• 5 days a week, 11 hours per day

• 7 days a week, 8 hours per day

We’re currently working with a nursing agency that will recruit candidates who meet Marcus’ specific needs. Once potential nurses are identified, we’ll begin the interview process. When a suitable care team is in place, Marcus will be ready to move into the apartment.

Thank you all for your continued love and support.
