Marcus has weathered the “storm” and currently is in stable condition.

The bulk of the tests conducted to determine the cause of the increased Heart Rate (HR) and Breaths Per Minute (BPN) have returned with negative results.  He was removed from the ICU and sent to the General Medicine/Pulmonary floor.

Marcus’ vitals are all good, and there is no concern regarding the ICD that was placed in his chest.  His heart is good and strong.  Testing the device showed that it had not fired or assisted him in any way, nor has it assisted him since its installation.

Medical personnel feel the incident on the 25th was actually “storming,” and they are now trying to figure out what caused it to prevent it from occurring again.

Thursday night after the move from the ICU to General Medicine, Marcus was awake.   Alvin said to Marcus that if he could hear him to blink, and he did. Alvin thought that Marcus may have just been blinking and said, “If you can hear me, blink twice.” Marcus blinked once and looked like he was trying to blink again. Alvin again said, “If you can hear me, blink twice,” and this time Marcus did. We are learning that we have to give him time to process what’s being asked of him.  The SRALAB will be figuring out ways to help him.

We suspect that Marcus will be returning to the SRALAB within the next couple of days.
