Update September 10, 2024

This will likely be the last update for a few days. We have decided to take Marcus to a rehab facility in Chicago to continue his care. The facility is ranked number one in the US and other parts of the world. Their sole purpose is to rehab brain injuries, and that’s what he needs at this point. The plan is to get authorization, and we hope to move him by the weekend. We won’t know all the details until all paperwork is completed, but this is the plan.

What this means is we are sure people will want to see him prior to us moving him. Please check before coming to the hospital. If you request or are given a time, please recognize if you fail to show or are late you may not get to see him because so many people are asking to see him.

We are creating a blog page to provide updates on his care while at the rehab facility, and all updates will be located there. We will provide the blog information soon.

The kindness, love and support we’ve received from the Alaska family has been overwhelming, and we thank you all for loving Marcus the way you have and do; it will never be forgotten. We are thankful for every one of you.

Yesterday, Marcus received an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), which is a small battery-powered device placed in his chest. Its sole purpose is to detect and stops irregular heartbeats, also referred as arrhythmias.

Marcus continues to do PT/OT; they tax his body and senses daily. He is still in the minimally conscious state, but his eyes have been open for nearly five hours.

God’s got him; we just have to show our faith in God to take care of him.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that God is a divine physician who can heal us from the inside out, even when we are broken.

Jeremiah 30:17- “I will restore your health, and I will heal your wounds declares the Lord.”
