We’re currently in a time of transition. Marcus had a short break from therapy this past week as we prepare to move from day therapy to outpatient therapy. Even with the downtime, he still had a few doctor appointments to attend.
One important development: One of Marcus’s physical therapists recommended an LSO (lumbosacral orthosis) vest to help manage scoliosis. Since Marcus spends most of his time in one or two positions, there’s a risk of his spine developing a curve. The LSO vest will help prevent that. In the next couple of weeks, he’ll have an appointment to be fitted for it.
During his main appointment, we received encouraging news—Marcus’s tonicity has improved. We can now raise his arms above his head with much more ease. While there is still some resistance, it’s definitely reduced, which is a positive step forward.
As we begin to take on more responsibilities in his care, establishing a consistent routine will be crucial for maintaining his progress. Regular stretching will help preserve his flexibility, and we’ll also be starting a feeding regimen. The more exposure Marcus has to pureed foods, the more alert and engaged he becomes.
Slow and steady—every step counts.
