Marcus has passed about 4-5 kidney stones. There’s not really a way to know if everything has been passed, but he has seemed more comfortable and in less pain. He had a swallow test last week. He is now at a level of 6, which consists of soft crackers, soft cookies and cereals etc. The therapists are extremely happy with his progress from the last test in February, when he was at a 4. Head control has been really good lately. He’s been able to hold his head up for longer periods of time. He’s also tracking faces at a much higher rate.
April 6th is the last day that Aetna had approved for Marcus at Almost Home Kids. Earlier in the week, I spoke with my rep, and they informed me that they would not be approving him past the 6th. The long extension was given to give the caregivers a chance to be trained. We have five of the six caregivers trained, and Aetna said that that was enough, the five of us can ensure the sixth will be trained. As of April 8th, Medicaid has stepped in and approved his stay until May 6th. I cannot thank the public assistance office of Illinois enough for their quick and prompt service to help us prevent another situation like we had in December.
