We have been fortunate to call Shirley Ryan Ability Lab our home for the past 3 months. We had no idea what to expect when we arrived in late September/early October. It quickly became apparent that we had chosen the right place for Marcus. We have gotten to know personally every single janitor; nurse; primary care technician; speech, occupational and physical therapist; counselor, case manager; and doctor on the pediatric floor.

Like Alaska Regional, SRAL has played an essential role in Marcus’ recovery. As we close this chapter, we want to thank everyone who worked on the pediatric floor for their kindness and support of Marcus.

Now that Marcus has finally been relocated to Almost Home Kids (AHK), we are working on setting up his room with a good flow and rhythm while also completing our own training. We got lucky this week when a room freed up, allowing Marcus to have his own room for the time being.

Marcus began day rehab on Tuesday the 14th. We are all learning and adjusting to these new changes at AHK, but as always, we remain positive and excited for the improvement and wins that we continue to see.

P.S. If you didn’t get a change to check out our last post regarding Marcus’ birthday entitled “8teen Approaching” please take a look at it. We are working on ways to celebrate his upcoming birthday!
