As of this morning, Marcus is still in the hospital in stable condition, and he is doing well. Lurie Children’s Hospital cleared Marcus for return to SRALAB late Friday afternoon but did not make the request for transport back to SRALAB until Monday, September 30th.
Lurie requested the ambulance (9/30), and the insurance company declined the request. Unbeknownst to us, when Marcus was transported to the emergency room, it was considered a discharge even though he has not completed rehab, and it was explained to us that the insurance company does not want to be charged by SRALAB for holding his bed. The discharge now requires the insurance company to approve him to return to SRALAB. We are entering day three waiting for the insurance company to approve Marcus’ move back to SRALAB, so for now he is receiving intermittent PT by Lurie personnel.
Marcus has been awake and alert. Unfortunately, the formula they are using here to feed him upsets his stomach, and since this is a children’s facility, they do not have access to the formula he is regularly on. Marcus is uncomfortable and clearly in intermittent pain due to this; hopefully this does not cause other issues.
We are praying for a speedy transfer back to SRALAB where we know he needs to be.
In God’s time…..
